How to Use the Guangu Magnetic Polishing Machine for Polishing Aluminum Parts?
1- Preparation and Pretreatment
First of all, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the surface of aluminum parts to remove oil or grease. The role of polishing solution is mainly to provide lubrication and gloss, but it cannot play a role in decomposing and dissolving oil. Effective pretreatment can avoid the phenomenon that water, needles and workpieces are easy to be black when polishing.

2- Add Water Stainless Steel Needles Polishing Fluid Workpieces
Add water. It is recommended to add clean water to the polishing barrel, and the height of the water in the grinding tank should be maintained at about 5-8 cm.
Select stainless steel needles. Since aluminum parts are relatively soft, it is recommended to use stainless steel needles with a diameter of 0.3-0.5 mm (such as Φ0.3×5 and Φ0.5×5). The smaller the diameter, the better the polishing effect on aluminum parts. At the same time, it should be noted that the larger the diameter, the faster the removal of burrs, but the rougher the surface after polishing.
Add polishing solution. It is recommended to use polishing solution. The function of the polishing fluid is mainly to provide lubrication, cleaning, and gloss. It should be noted that the main function of the polishing fluid is not to remove oil.
Add workpieces. When adding workpieces, pay attention to the fact that the magnetic polishing machine uses a magnetic field to drive steel needles for polishing. If the weight of the workpiece is too large or the number of pieces at one time is too high, it will lead to the steel needle not being able to rotate freely, thereby reducing the polishing effect.
3-Adjust Parameters and Polish
The main parameters to be adjusted after turning on the machine are as follows:
Polishing time. It is recommended to polish aluminum parts for a shorter time. Magnetic grinding and deburring of aluminum parts generally take 5-8 minutes, which depends on the size of the workpiece and the amount of burrs. For example, for casting parts, it can be appropriately extended to 10-20 minutes.
Inverter frequency. It is recommended to set the inverter frequency between 50-60 Hz. It has been verified that it can effectively remove burrs while obtaining a better polishing effect.
Processing time. It is recommended that the processing time for each batch of workpieces be controlled within 5-8 minutes. The test results show that after 8 minutes, the surface roughness of the workpiece no longer decreases, and there is even a tendency to rise.
4-Post-treatment and Inspection
After polishing, remove the workpieces from the machine. Thoroughly clean the workpieces with running water to remove any steel filings and polishing fluid adhering to the surface of the workpieces. It is recommended to dry with an air gun or a dryer to obtain a workpiece with good surface quality and no burrs.
Key items and Common Mistakes
To polish aluminum parts with the magnetic polishing machine, attention should be paid to the following matters:
The amount of stainless steel needles. To achieve the purpose of shortening the time, saving energy, and reducing costs, some may think that the fewer the needles, the better. In fact, too few stainless steel needles will have poor polishing effect. On the contrary, too many needles will increase the burden on the machine motor. The most suitable amount of stainless steel needles should be based on the recommended amount in the equipment manual. Within a certain range, the larger the amount of stainless steel needles, the higher the polishing efficiency.
Why aluminum parts turn black. If the surface of aluminum parts turns black during polishing, there are two reasons: before polishing, the oil on the surface of aluminum parts was not removed; the stainless steel needles or the inner wall of the polishing barrel were not cleaned, resulting in oil contamination and metal powder. Contamination.
How to keep workpiece accuracy. One of the advantages of magnetic polishing is that it will not damage the accuracy of workpieces. The working principle of magnetic polishing makes the stainless steel needle gently contact and rub against the metal surface of the workpiece to remove the burr. On the contrary, traditional mechanical polishing may affect the shape and size accuracy of the workpiece.
Automatic forward and reverse rotation. In actual production, the Guangu magnetic polishing machine can be set to forward and reverse rotation. By periodically reversing the rotation direction, the water flow direction and the movement direction of stainless steel needles can be changed periodically, avoiding the problem of incomplete polishing in some areas.
